The UK Parliament wants to publicise stories that highlight occasions when the public, either individually or as part of a wider group, have been able to connect with them. This might take the form of contacting an MP or Peer, signing a petition, submitting evidence to a select committee.
Are you able to provide examples that others might hear and think 'they made a difference - perhaps I could too'? The outcome might be that someone felt they were listened to; decided it was worth them voting; decided to get more involved in local democracy.
The types of stories they are looking for are:
- Real change stories - times when laws or policies have been changed.
- Voices heard stories - important issues that the public care about which are being raised and discussed in Parliament.
- Taking part stories - occasions where people have connected with Parliament or democracy for the first time.
Ideally stories should be:
- Short – so the heart of the story can be captured in a paragraph, used on a poster or in a short video.
- Verifiable - they will need to research stories thoroughly and, ideally, use a member of the public to tell the story.
